Elias Choufani, educator and poet, bearer of Archbishop Nicolas Naaman’s prize for human virtues (2010), is honored at the Middle East College (Beirut). At the program: speeches by Professor Mounif Moussa, Jean Kassis, president of the Lebanese actors’ syndicate, Mr. Naji Naaman and Mr. Elias Choufani, with a presentation by poet Elias Khalil; also: a musical intermission, a reception, the signing of «Hfirni ‘A ‘Albak » and a free distribution of MNAC and FCG new releases.

Naji Naaman invited to Iraq
A delegation of the Chaldean, Syriac and Assyrian public Council in Iraq, formed by Messrs Achwan Bidawid, ‘Ammanu’il Jibbo and Fouad Kammoura, delivered an invitation by the Head of the Council, Jamil Zito ‘Abdul-Ahad Abou Soulwan Al-Atrach, to Mr Naji Naaman, in order to visit the region of Irbil in Iraq and to give a conference about his book «A-Massihiyyun: Khamiratul Machriqi wa Khamratuhu» (Christians: Bread and Wine of the Levant).
Passing away of Omar Koussih
Omar Koussih, Naji Naaman’s Literary Prize (merit prize, 2010), passed away.
Young Moroccan poet and associative activist, born on December 19, 1988 (Rabat – Morocco), handicapped since his birth by a severe spinal amyotrophy, Omar studied in France (Centre National d’Enseignement à Distance, CNED, Rouen), and began writing at the age of 14. His short life was intense and filled: He received several honors and awards, and when he died on August 11, 2011, he left a considerable poetic work.

Randa Khattar, Lebanese author, bearer of Naji Naaman’s Literary Prize (merit prize, 2009), signs «Yawmazaka Qal: Ghanni» at Zouk Mosbeh Municipality, where former Minister Ziad Baroud gave a speech. Also talked Charbel Merheb, Joseph Mghamés and the author. Maya Chédid performed a song written and composed by Mrs. Khattar. The book was published by MNAC, and many FGC releases were distributed free of charge to the public while sharing a cocktail. Were present: Habib Younis, Toni Danayan, Samir Abou Samra, Louis Bou Farah, Claude Zakka and Joseph Khoury.

Culture figure of the year
Samira Kadiri, Moroccan soprano, bearer of Naji Naaman’s Literary Prize (honor prize, 2011), and Extraordinary Ambassador for Gratis Culture by the FGC, was elected 2011 culture figure of the year by “Al-Muhajir” newspaper and cultural organization in Australia.
Within the «Wednesday’s meetings», Naji Naaman received the academic, writer and poet Mounif Moussa, as the twentieth guest of his literary and cultural salon.
Introduced by Doctor Michel Ki’di, Doctor Ibtihaj Saleh and Magistrate Elias Eid, the guest of Mr. Naaman related his most intimate souvenirs before responding to the questions of the public.
Mr. Naaman gave his guest a certificate, then the public shared a cocktail and the volume of Mr. Moussa, entitled «Al-Qubba al-Hamra’», was distributed for free to all participants, as well as the last FGC releases.
Was present: Former Minister Edmond Rizk, Former Ambassador Riad Qantar, Issam Karam, Rima Najm Bejjani, Michel Geha, Raymond Azar, Antoine Raad, Maurice Najjar, Nabil Haddad, Emile Kaba, Youssef Eid, George Mghamés, George Chami, Iskandar Dagher and Joseph Moufarrej.
